John Piland is a senior attorney at
, who has been admitted to practice in Texas, Illinois, the U.S. Supreme
Court, the Seventh Circuit, and most recently, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas. Mr. Piland handles civil
commercial matters representing insurance companies and financial institutions in first-party disputes, third-party disputes, and large
subrogation cases. He also represents individuals, self-insureds, and institutional clients in large personal injury, consumer,
commercial, products liability, criminal, and probate cases.
Before moving to Texas and joining
, Mr. Piland served as the State's Attorney of Champaign County, Illinois for two terms. His experience and reputation earned him a spot on the "Forty Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, publishers of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. He was also one of eight political leaders selected to serve as Delegate to the People's Republic of China by American Council of Young Political Leaders in 1998.
During his career in Texas, Mr. Piland has been recognized for numerous honors, including designation as a Top Attorney by Fort Worth, Texas Magazine for his success in the field of Consumer Law. He is also a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the College of the State Bar of Texas.
